Our Story

How it Began..

Kimberly’s Kupboard started with Chickweed Salve.

My hands were becoming irritated from working in the garden, and as I learned more about herbs, I decided to make a salve for myself. I wasn’t thinking about starting a business. I was simply trying to solve a problem.

The salve helped tremendously, and before long, other people began asking me to make some for them. Comfrey Salve came next, inspired by my mother’s arthritis and my desire to make something she could use on her aching hands and joints. From there, Kimberly’s Kupboard grew one product at a time.

Since 2014, we’ve attended hundreds of markets, which has given me the chance to talk directly with people using our products. I’ve heard what they love, what they need, and what they wanted. Those conversations have helped me refine our products and create new ones based on real feedback—not just guesses.

Made in Rural Illinois

More than a decade later, our products are still made by hand (usually mine!) in small batches in rural Illinois.

I choose each ingredient carefully and make every formula with a purpose. I also believe something useful can still be beautiful, which is why the way a product is made and presented matters to me.

Each batch is blended, poured, and packaged by hand—never mass-produced and never rushed.
